History of Pondview Farm

Pete was born and raised as a country boy and Jen considered herself a city gal (until she figured out what she was missing out on). We first met when coupled up to walk together down the aisle as a bridesmaid and groomsman in a wedding. Two months later, we went on our first date and the rest is history--- we were married in November of 1985, right in the middle of a snowstorm! (We hear it’s good luck, right?)

We purchased our very first three bedroom rambler home in 1986, and by 1996, our family grew by three children, Kara, Cole, and Kalli. As the kids grew, there was opportunity to buy Pete's grandparents farmstead, and in 1999, we did! The Shugren family of 5 were fortunate to make the move into the 1949 home (orange shag carpet and all).

Many years later when our oldest daughter, Kara, was engaged and announced that she wanted to get married in a barn, we were a bit puzzled, but she told us it was her dream to have a rustic wedding. After looking at several barn venues, we realized that we could make this dream wedding happen right on our own family farm! The only thing is, it needed LOTS of TLC to make it presentable. But we knew we wanted to save a part of our family history, so after a couple of years with lots of intensive labor help from family and friends, we were ready for the big day!

After Kara’s wedding, we were encouraged by many to turn the barn into a venue. We knew we had something special, and since then, a lot has been happening behind the scenes and we are working hard to make all of your wedding dreams come true!

Our family means the world to us. We were blessed with three children, Kara, Cole, and Kalli and were lucky enough to add an amazing son-in-law, Sean, and wonderful daughter-in-law, Lexi to the family, too! You may notice these familiar faces throughout your time with Pondivew Farm as they are important members in our family operated venue.

Pondview Farm wedding venue is an AMAZING venue! I can’t say enough good things about it and the owners, Pete and Jen! During a wedding, you’ll find Pete and Jen behind the scenes setting up and tearing down, helping answer questions, and just making sure your day goes as smoothly as possible! I am in awe with how invested they are in each couple’s day! This venue is FULL of amazing locations for GORGEOUS photos! There is so much history and richness here as well, which just adds to the whole experience!
